About the Blue Flag Program

The Blue Flag is a leading voluntary international eco-certification program, owned and managed by the International Non-Governmental Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). The Blue Flag is awarded to beaches and marinas, which meet strict criteria addressing Water Quality, Environmental Education and Information, Environmental Management, Safety and Services.

Dubai Municipality is the Competent Authority for the Regulation, Management and Environmental Protection of the Coastal Zone of the Emirate of Dubai. It is committed to the Blue Flag Program, and is asking for your cooperation to ensure that:

  • Safety and security requirements are met to provide a safe and healthy environment for beach and water recreation activities
  • The natural coastal environment and seawater quality is protected and respected
  • The City’s coastline and beaches continue to being a major tourist attraction whilst achieving environmental protection and sustainable development in the Emirate of Dubai
