LIDAR Data

The first hydrographic Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) survey of the Dubai coastal zone was undertaken in 2004 to add to the database of the monitoring programme. It was followed in 2007 by a second LIDAR survey that provided detailed snapshot of the coastal bathymetry. Results from both surveys supplemented the bathymetric data already collected under the regular coastal zone monitoring programmes.

The bathymetric data are available for the entire Dubai Coastal zone with coverage of about 1000 km2. Data resolution varied from 5x5 offshore and 3x3 near shore.
